OUR APPROACH

A broader education built on strong foundations.

The Meridel Experience prepares students for the lives they will build beyond school. Knowledge gives them something to draw from, and their education teaches them how to use it.

The International French Curriculum

The French national curriculum organizes education around competencies that develop progressively over several years. Learning is structured into multi-year cycles, giving students time to build knowledge, consolidate skills and progress according to their development.

This creates continuity throughout a student's education. Each cycle has a distinct purpose and prepares students for the level of learning that follows.

CYCLE 3

Meridel's journey
begins at a pivotal stage

Cycle 3 connects the final years of elementary education with the beginning of secondary school. Students consolidate the knowledge and skills developed in earlier years while gaining greater independence, stronger working methods and the ability to engage with increasingly complex subjects and ideas

Build fluency in the essentials

Cycle 3 strengthens the academic skills students rely on everywhere else in their education. Reading, writing, mathematics, communication and reasoning become increasingly sophisticated and are applied across a wider range of subjects.

Become a more independent learner

Students begin taking greater responsibility for how they work. They develop strategies for organizing themselves, approaching challenges, recognizing where they need support and understanding what helps them progress.

Encounter a wider academic world

The curriculum expands considerably during Cycle 3. Literature, history, geography, arts, experimental sciences and technology introduce students to new disciplines and increasingly complex ways of understanding the world.

Put knowledge into practice

Learning is repeatedly brought into new contexts. Students investigate, create, collaborate and solve unfamiliar problems, strengthening their ability to recognize when something they already know can help them approach something new.

A HIGHER EDUCATION

Guided by an international standard

Meridel is accompanied by the Agence pour l’enseignement français à l’étranger (AEFE) as the Academy works toward homologation. This guidance connects the development of Meridel to the standards and educational framework of the French international school network.
